How It All Started

​

My journey into the world of chocolate began with a simple love for amazing chocolates, inspiration from a trip to Belgium, and a curiosity about the art of chocolate making. What started as a hobby quickly blossomed into a full-fledged passion and I took a deep dive into the art of chocolate - (think kitchen experiments, studying the tomes of Jean-Pierre Wybauw, Peter P Greweling, Andrey Dubovik and others, and taking in-depth courses with outrageously talented chocolatiers like Melissa Coppel and Chef Jungsted). It was a natural transition to turn my passion into 1740 Confection Lab: 1740 for the address of the home kitchen I started in, and Confection Lab because I’ll always be experimenting.

Here at the ‘Lab’, it’s all about making chocolate that’s not just tasty but tells a story – whether visually or on your tastebuds. In addition to ‘Lab Favorites’, I create seasonal collections that reflect the flavors and peak ingredients of the moment.  The chocolates are handcrafted with the finest ingredients, and I prioritize quality over quantity, ensuring that each batch is made with precision and care.
